Kyo is all about the freshest catch-of-the-day along with an array of tasty options for all palettes
Located along The Pointe on Palm Jumeirah, buzzing Japanese restaurant Kyo brings an array of delectable dishes for all palettes. Lead by Head Chef Arturo Mendez, the venue focuses on exotic ingredients imbued in vivid fusion flavour profiles reminiscent of Japan.
A master in the fine art of Japanese cooking, Mendez says, “From the precision of sashimi and sushi preparation to the use of live cooking with a teppanyaki and tempura, we have fine-tuned the menu to detail the many cooking styles used in Japan for a true experience. Adding drama to dining, we have incorporated elements of fire and ice in our dishes and impeccable presentations.”
Featuring delicacies ranging from a sushi bar to a chef’s table experience with hot stone and teppanyaki, Kyo presents choices of grilled seafood, meat, poultry and vegetables. KYO’s reinterpretation of ishiyaki introduces the wagyu, and surf and turf options to the plate.
The menu offers an expansive selection on the starters including black cod gyoza, tartar and wagyu sashimi. Signatures from the mains are wagyu rib eye, ebi tempuaa and tako, including the chef’s favourite citrus suzuki guajillo, a poached sea bass soaked in a spicy citrus sauce with orange tobiko, spinach, and shimeii mushrooms. The menu also offers vegetarian and vegan alternatives for every course.
Serving from their contemporary bar, Kyo is renowned for their concoctions that also bring the fire and ice element to life. Fan favourites include gingerbread baby, cucumber togorashi and matcho tea, which is a passion fruit pineapple mix laced with egg white and infused with Matcha Tea.
Ending the meal on a sweet note and fiery note, the desserts are a play on classics with Japanese elements like sakura pie, ginger tiramisu, nachi pear and the chocolate fondant.
